The New England Patriots is a professional football team based in the Greater Boston area that was established in July 1959. The team’s current home stadium is Gillette Stadium, located in the town of Foxborough, Massachusetts. Sometimes referred to as the “Pats”, it has been one of the most successful football teams of the decade, having won several Super Bowl trophies, and broke numerous world records.
Originally named the Boston Patriots, the team changed its name to “New England Patriots” in 1971. The name Patriots is reminiscent of Boston’s unforgettable contribution in the American Revolution.

The New England Patriots logo is one of the most popular and instantly recognized logos in the history of American football. The Patriots’ merchandise is also hugely well-liked by the fans and the team’s logo appears on virtually anything you can imagine to buy, from t-shirts to belts and caps.
Its earliest version was introduced in 1961, consisting of a blue-and-white tri-quarter revolutionary war hat. The team unveiled a new logo in 1961 which featured a New England Revolutionary in red, white and blue colors, who is about to hike the football. The logo was conceptualized by the noted graphic artist Phil Bissell. The “warrior” mascot exemplified the strength, courage, willpower and determination of the team.
The current version of the New England Patriots was adapted in 1993. It comprises of a silver patriot with a red and navy blue striped hat. The logo underwent a few slight modifications in 2000. The most significant change included the introduction of a darker shade of blue.
