Facebook is the most popular, preferred and fastest growing social network in the world. It was founded in February 2004 by four Harvard University classmates – Mark Zuckerberg, Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes. Within 30 days of going live, it already had attracted half of the Harvard’s undergraduate population. Facebook was then introduced to other universities with contacts to Harvard. Today there are well over one billion active users on the network.
Headquartered in Menlo Park, California, the company employs 5,000 people with total assets of US$ 15.10 billion as of 2012.
