The modern Olympics are a major international sporting event, involving over 200 nations and thousands of athletes who participate in a variety of competitions governed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), an administrative body which is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The event’s history goes back to the ancient Olympic Games which were held in Olympia, Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD.

Shape and Colors of the Olympics Logo
The Olympics logo, also known as the “Olympics rings”, comprises of five interlocking rings, featuring blue, black, red, yellow and green colors, on a white background. These rings symbolize the five continents of the world and the five colors combined tend to reproduce the national colors of all the participating nations. It was created in 1912 by Pierre de Coubertin, who is widely regarded as the father of the modern Olympic Games. The logo was publicly launched at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics.
The Olympics logo is inarguably one of the greatest and most memorable logos in the history of graphic design and advertising.
