WORLD-CLASS THINKERS, CREATIVES AND GLOBAL BUSINESS LEADERS JOIN WEEK-LONG LEARNING PROGRAMME
The Cannes Lions learning programme featured 57 world-class seminars across seven days inside the Palais des Festival. Thought-leaders and experts in all forms of communications and creative thinking came together to inspire, debate and entertain at the Festival.
The seminar programme included sessions from Patti Smith, Sir Ken Robinson, foursquare Co-founder Dennis Crowley, Nestlé CEO Paul Bulcke, Piers Morgan, Arianna Huffington, Malcolm Gladwell, James Murdoch, Dr Edward de Bono and many more.
Immersive two-hour workshop sessions at Cannes Lions provide the opportunity to get right to the heart of some of the most exciting and innovative new thinking about creative communications across disciplines and from around the globe.The workshops at Cannes Lions were fast-paced, hands-on, often playful sessions hosted by experts on current trends and best practice. They offered real insight and workable solutions to issues facing the industry.

network with colleagues, ask questions and explore real-world examples;
all in small groups where participation is encouraged.
At locations around the Festival, digital kiosks offered delegates the opportunity to review the work, with full credits, entered into Film, Film Craft, Press, Outdoor, Direct, Media, Cyber, Promo, Radio, Design, PR, Titanium and Integrated Lions.
You could also see exhibitions of shortlisted work that display the best ideas in the competition.

There were all-day screenings of the Film, Titanium and Integrated entries.
SPECIAL SESSIONS FOR YOUNG CREATIVES AND MARKETERS
Master classes were relaxed one-hour sessions for young creative and marketers which tackle the specific challenges facing new talent today. They provided an opportunity for young professionals to engage with high-profile speakers and learn from their experience and insights.

COMPETE AGAINST YOUR PEERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
The Young Lions Competitions brings together national teams of young creatives under the age of 28 from around the world to compete in one of five competitions: Cyber, Film, Media, Print and Young Marketers.
Each team has to respond to a client’s brief and deliver a solution within 24 hours (or within 48 hours for Film). It’s an intense and rewarding experience for all involved culminating in the winners being awarded at the final Awards Ceremony.
The Cannes Creative Academy for Young Marketers was a week-long structured programme of intensive learning, specifically targeted at those companies keen to invest in their future brand leaders.
A brand’s long-term success is dependent on the talent behind it and by investing in this talent today the brand will reap rewards in the future.
This structured course addressed the importance and relevance of creativity in communications. Participants were rewarded with a high-quality, focused learning programme that delivers real value.
A select group of international students meet at the Roger Hatchuel Academy to study the best work in advertising from across the globe, learn from inspirational industry leaders and connect with like-minded peers. Students follow an intensive schedule of activities during the Festival week under expert tutelage. Last year, Dean, Rick Boyko, Director and Professor at Brandcenter, and Course Tutor, Clive Challis, Head of the Advertising Course at Central Saint Martins, London lead the course. Alongside these exclusive sessions, Academy students have full access to the Festival.
CELEBRATE WITH COLLEAGUES FROM 90 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
Taking place on the Carlton Beach, two beach galas mark the opening and close of the Cannes Lions Festival. It’s where everyone associated with the Festival, including top industry professionals, colleagues from abroad, young talent, speakers, jury members and the winners, meet to celebrate and party.
The Opening Gala, sponsored by SapientNitro, took place after the Radio, Media and Outdoor Lions Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, 21 June. The Closing Gala was held on Saturday night, 25 June, after the Film, Film Craft, Creative Effectiveness and Titanium and Integrated Lions Awards. Tickets to the Galas were included in the Festival Packages.
PLUS A DEDICATED PARTY FOR YOUNG LIONS
This year, a separate Young Lions Party took place at Cannes Lions. Sponsored by Nokia, the event gave Young Creatives the chance to meet new friends and let their hair down at their own event.
The Young Lions Party took place immediately after the Radio, Media and Outdoor Lions Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, 21 June at CBeach.
CANNES CREATIVE LEADERS PROGRAMME
The Cannes Creative Leaders Programme is a training initiative launched in 2010 by Cannes Lions and the Berlin School of Creative Leadership. The two-week training course based in Berlin and Cannes takes place in June 2011 and is designed for those either in a creative leadership position or about to step up to lead a team.
During the first week, participants will be based at the Berlin School where they will engage in six days of intensive training from the School's professors. Then they will relocate to Cannes during the Festival week, where the course continues with bespoke sessions, group projects, speeches and lectures. Participants will also have full access to everything the Cannes Lions Festival has to offer, including workshops, master classes, seminars, exhibitions, screenings, award shows and galas.
The Cannes Lions Beach Soccer Tournament returned to the Festival this year, giving delegates the opportunity to compete against other national teams of industry professionals in a football competition taking place during Cannes Lions. The event is organised in association with our key partner Eurosport.
The competition took place on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 Juneand was won by Brazil.
