TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts and Calgary Stampeders swapped receivers, defensive linemen and the rights to a player on each other's negotiation list in a multi-player deal Thursday.

Wide receiver P.K. Sam and defensive lineman Miguel Robede head east to Toronto, while receiver Reggie McNeal and defensive tackle Adrian Davis trek west to become Stampeders. The teams also traded one player off each of their negotiation lists.

Robede, Calgary's first overall pick in the 2005 draft, has spent all five of his seasons in the CFL with Calgary and won a Grey Cup with the club in 2008. The University of Laval product had 42 tackles and seven sacks for the Stamps.

Sam returns to the Argos, who he had 63 catches for five touchdowns and 884 yards for during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Toronto dealt Sam to Calgary prior to last season to gain veteran receiver Jeremaine Copeland. Sam had 13 catches for 129 yards with Calgary.

Robede fills Toronto's need for a Canadian-born defensive lineman following the retirement of Adriano Belli.

"P.K. is a receiver with a lot of promise and athletic ability who gives us versatility with his ability to play split end," Argos coach and GM Jim Barker said in a release. "Robede brings a full skill set to the table and is a better fit for us at nose guard."

McNeal, a former quarterback with Texas A&M, had 80 catches for 1,090 yards and five touchdowns in three seasons with Toronto. His 2,791 passing yards and 718 rushing yards are the best totals by a quarterback in A&M's history.

Davis, from Greenfield Park, Que., had six tackles and two sacks in three seasons with the Argos. The Alouettes drafted him in the fourth round of the Canadian college draft in 2006.

"The receiver and defensive line positions will be very competitive at camp, so they will face the same challenges P.K. and Miguel would have faced," Stampeder head coach and GM John Hufnagel said in a statement.

CFL training camps open June 5. The Stampeders kept adding receivers to their training camp roster Thursday with the announcement they'd also signed import receivers Tyrre Burks and Dudley Guice.
