JUST SOLD: TV rights to Helen Stringer’s MG debut novel Spellbinder, about a girl who lives with the ghosts of her parents in the north of England and when they disappear, along with all the ghosts in the world, it’s up to her, an always-in-trouble classmate named Steve, and the one remaining ghost (from 1912) to find out why, to Jennifer Gwartz at Fishbowl Worldwide Media with author attached, by Wayne Alexander of Alexander, Nau, Lawrence, Frumes & Labowitz, LLP and Candace Lake and Ryan Lewis of Stone Canyon Media, on behalf of Kristin Nelson at Nelson Literary Agency.

JUST SOLD: Winner of the Colorado Book Award for her memoir No Place Safe, Kim Reid’s debut YA detective series starting with CHANTI GETS THE 411, about a girl who is accused of running a theft ring at her posh private school and must prove her innocence by using her street savvy, crime-solving skills learned from her cop mom, to Selena James at Kensington, in a nice deal by Kristin Nelson at Nelson Literary Agency (NA).

JUST SOLD: Flash media and online game artist Marie Lu's debut dystopian YA trilogy starting with Legend, set in the flooded Republic of Los Angeles 2130 A.D., about a boy who is the Republic’s most wanted criminal and a girl who is the Republic’s most beloved government prodigy whose paths cross when her brother is murdered and she is hired to hunt down the boy responsible—but the truth they uncover will become legend, to Jen Besser at Putnam Children’s for fall 2011 publication, at auction in a very major deal, by Kristin Nelson at Nelson Literary Agency.
