MM Docket 99-25
Prompted by various organizations like Prometheus and comments made at the February,
2005 hearing on LPFM, the FCC has made several landmark changes in the LPFM service
and proposes more. Changes include:
- Stations can now move up to their 60dBu contour (5.6km for LP-100) as a minor change.
- A 6-month freeze on the grants of original translator construction permits.
Changes being proposed include:
- More flexibility to change more than 50% of a board.
- Ability to transfer an LPFM station to another organization.
- Extend the settlement period for timesharing to 90 days.
- Extend the construction period to 3 years.
- Rules addressing 2nd and 3rd adjacent channel encroachment.
- Status of translators in respect to protecting LPFM stations.
The comment and reply comment period has already passed. The FCC will now evaluate the comments
and make a decision.
