JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - Authorities probing the disappearance of a police officer's wife say he's now considered a suspect and their investigation has shifted from a missing persons search to a potential homicide.
Will County prosecutors also received court approval to exhume the body of the previous wife of Bolingbrook Sergeant Drew Peterson after a coroner said her death was mistakenly ruled an accidental drowning.
Investigators are still searching for Peterson's current wife, Stacy Peterson, who was last seen October 28th.
Illinois State Police Captain Carl Dobrich today said Drew Peterson has moved from being a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife to "clearly being a suspect."
Peterson has said his current wife phoned him and told him she'd left him for another man. His attorney didn't immediately return calls for comment today.
