Use an Apple device to sign in or make purchases on Apple TV
You can authorize purchases and subscriptions on Apple TV using an Apple Watch, or using Face ID or Touch ID on an iOS or iPadOS device. You can also sign in to supported Apple TV apps from an iOS or iPadOS device (Apple Watch is supported for purchases only).
Apple TV automatically detects a nearby Apple device during sign-in to supported apps or when you’re making purchases, so that you don’t have to enter passwords manually on Apple TV.
Sign in with an Apple device
When prompted during the sign-in or purchase process, select Sign In with Apple Device, then follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process on a nearby Apple device.
Tip: Another way you can sign in with an Apple device is by using a passkey. Passkeys let you sign in without passwords using Face ID or Touch ID on a supported iPhone or iPad. If you create a passkey on Apple TV for an app, it’s stored on your iPhone or iPad for future use when you’re signed in as the primary user on Apple TV with the same Apple ID as the iPhone or iPad, or if you previously used the iPhone or iPad to set up Apple TV (iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 and tvOS 16 required). For more information on passkeys, see the iPhone User Guide.
