Send an audio message on Mac
You can quickly record an audio message and send it to someone instead of typing your message. They can read a transcript of the recording or play it right in the Messages conversation.
Note: Audio messages are automatically transcribed in the language of the sender’s system. See Change Language & Region settings to switch to another language and the macOS Feature Availability webpage for more details.
If you want to make an audio call instead of sending a message, see Make calls.
Go to the Messages app on your Mac.
Select a conversation, then click to record a message.
To finish the recording, click .
To review the message before you send it, click .
To send it, press Return on your keyboard or click .
Your audio message disappears from your Messages conversation two minutes after you send it, but the recipient can still play it. To save the audio message in your Messages conversation, click Keep.
