Set up iCloud for third-party apps on all your devices
You can use iCloud with third-party apps on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. For an overview of what you can do with iCloud, see Keep third-party app data up to date on all your Apple devices with iCloud.
Note: Make sure you’re signed in to the same Apple Account on each device. If you’re not signed in to your Apple Account on a device, or the device has the app’s iCloud feature turned off, your app data won’t be kept up to date on the device.
Set up iCloud for third-party apps on your iPhone or iPad
On your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > [your name].
Tap iCloud, then tap See All (or Show All).
Scroll down, then turn on the app. For some apps, you need to turn on iCloud Drive before you can turn on the app.
Some third-party apps give you access to the data they store in iCloud Drive. If so, you see a folder with the app’s name in iCloud Drive in the Files app on your iPhone or iPad.
For more information on how to use the Files app, see any of the following:
iPhone User Guide: Modify files and folders in Files on iPhone
iPad User Guide: Modify files and folders in Files on iPad
Set up iCloud for third-party apps on your Mac
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click your name at the top of the sidebar.
If you don’t see your name, click “Sign in,” enter your Apple Account email address or phone number, then enter your password.
Click iCloud, click Drive (or iCloud Drive), then do one of the following:
macOS 13.3 or later: Turn on Sync this Mac. Click Apps Syncing to iCloud Drive, then turn on the app.
macOS 13 to 13.2: Click Turn On. Click the Options button, then select the app.
Some third-party apps give you access to the data they store in iCloud Drive. If so, you see a folder with the app’s name in iCloud Drive on your Mac. For more information on how to use iCloud Drive, see Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive in the Mac User Guide.
