Now Playing: Control music playback on Apple TV
No matter where you are in the Apple Music app , you can select a song, then press the clickpad centre (second-generation Siri Remote) or the touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote) to start playing it.
Once a song starts playing, it appears in Now Playing.
The song continues to play even if you leave Music, but it stops if you begin playing video or audio in another app.
Go to Now Playing
Open Music on Apple TV, then navigate to Now Playing.
Songs adjacent to the currently playing one appear in the queue. A timeline also appears showing elapsed and remaining time. When the timeline is active, you can also press the clickpad centre (second-generation Siri Remote) or the touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote) to play or pause the song.
Once you start playing a song, the screen changes to show just the currently playing song. Press the Back button (second-generation Siri Remote) or button (first-generation Siri Remote) to return to the queue.
Control music during playback
With the Now Playing screen open to the queue on Apple TV, navigate left or right to the song you want to play, then press the clickpad centre (second-generation Siri Remote) or the touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote) to begin playing it.
The queue changes to show just the currently playing song.
Do any of the following on the Siri Remote:
Pause or play: Press the Play/Pause button , or press the clickpad centre or the touch surface.
Go back to the beginning or skip to the next song: Press left or right on the clickpad ring (second-generation Siri Remote) or touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote).
Rewind or fast-forward: Press left or right and hold to rewind or fast-forward during playback. Release to resume playback.
Move to a specific point in the song: Press the clickpad centre or the touch surface to pause the song and reveal the playhead, then navigate left or right to move backwards or forwards on the timeline. Press the clickpad centre or touch surface again to resume playback.
Go back to the queue: Press the Back button (second-generation Siri Remote) or button (first-generation Siri Remote).
Use the Now Playing queue
The queue shows all of the songs in an album or songs and videos in a playlist. Items in the queue appear in a row with the currently playing song in the centre.
Do any of the following:
Browse the queue: Navigate left or right on the Touch surface.
Start playing a different song: Navigate to a song in the queue, then press the clickpad centre (second-generation Siri Remote) or the touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote).
Add an item right after the currently playing item: Navigate to a song in the queue, navigate down and select the More button at the bottom of the screen, then select Play Next.
Stream what’s playing to Bluetooth or AirPlay-enabled devices

Do either of the following:
With the Now Playing screen open on Apple TV, navigate up to the controls at the top of the screen; navigate left and select the Audio Controls button .
Press and hold the TV button on the Siri Remote to open Control Centre, then select the Audio Controls button .
Select a playback destination or destinations.

Quickly add a song to your library
View a song’s lyrics
You can view a song’s lyrics (on by default) if you subscribe to Apple Music.
With the Now Playing screen open on Apple TV, make sure the Lyrics button in the upper-right corner is selected.
Select a song in the queue.
As the song plays, lyrics appear and scroll in time with the song.
To find a lyric you want to hear, navigate up and down in the lyrics.
As you navigate up and down, a button appears onscreen to indicate the specific time where each lyric can be heard in the song’s timeline. Press the clickpad centre (second-generation Siri Remote) or the touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote) to begin playback from that point.
To turn lyrics off, navigate up and select the Lyrics button at the top of the screen.
Note: The Lyrics button won’t appear if lyrics aren’t available for the currently playing song.
See more options
With the queue open on Apple TV, navigate down and select the More button at the bottom of the screen. Depending on the song, you may be able to:
Go to the album
Go to the artist
Add the song to or delete the song from your library
Add the song to a playlist
Play the song next
Start a custom radio station from the song
View the full song lyrics
Flag the song as one you love or unlove
Suggest fewer songs like this
Repeat the currently playing song or the entire Now Playing queue
Turn Autoplay off or on
Autoplay (on by default) continues to extend the queue with similar songs until you stop playing music. You’ll be able to see the next ten songs that are queued up.
