Manage shopping categories in Reminders on Mac
You can create your own categories or rename the predefined categories in shopping lists.
Note: All Reminders features described in this guide are available when using updated iCloud reminders. Some features aren’t available when using accounts from other providers.
Add additional grocery categories
Go to the Reminders app
on your Mac.Select a shopping list in the sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Click
in the toolbar (or choose File > New Section).Enter a name for the new shopping category, then press Return.
Rename shopping categories
Go to the Reminders app
on your Mac.Select a shopping list in the sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Do one of the following:
Select a category, then enter a new name.
Choose File > Edit Sections, select a category, click
, choose Rename Section, enter a new name for the category, then click Done.If you previously changed the name of the section, you can choose Restore Section Name to change it back to the original name.
Rearrange shopping categories
You can change the order of the shopping categories to match the arrangement of your favourite supermarket.
Go to the Reminders app
on your Mac.Select a shopping list in the sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Choose File > Edit Sections.
Select a category, then drag it into the order you prefer.
When you’re finished rearranging the categories, click Done.
Show or hide empty shopping categories
Go to the Reminders app
on your Mac.Select a shopping list in the sidebar.
If you can’t see the sidebar, choose View > Show Sidebar.
Choose File > Edit Sections, then select or deselect the Hide Empty Sections tickbox.
