WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions could result in fire, electric shock, or other injury or damage to HomePod or other property. Read all safety information and operating instructions before using HomePod.
Important safety instructions
Read these instructions. Keep these instructions. Heed all warnings. Follow all instructions.
Do not use HomePod near water or where it might be exposed to dripping or splashing. Keep HomePod away from all sources of liquid, such as drinks, washbasins, baths, shower cubicles, swimming pools, spa baths and so on. Do not place any object filled with liquid on top of it. Do not expose HomePod to moisture, dampness or wet weather, such as rain, snow or fog.
Clean HomePod gently and only with a dry cloth.
Do not block any ventilation openings on HomePod.
Install and use in accordance with Apple’s instructions.
Unplug HomePod during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
Do not use HomePod near any heat sources such as radiators, heating vents, cookers or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not place a naked flame such as a lighted candle or lit cigarette on or near HomePod.
Only use attachments/accessories specified by Apple. For HomePod (2nd generation), only use the power lead specified by Apple.
Do not attempt to repair or service HomePod yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified servicing personnel. Servicing is required when HomePod has been damaged in any way, such as when the power lead or plug is damaged on HomePod (1st and 2nd generation) or when the power cable or connector is damaged on HomePod mini, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into HomePod, or when HomePod has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally or has been dropped.
During operation, speaker vibration could cause HomePod to move. Ensure that HomePod does not fall from its mounting surface. Do not hang HomePod (1st and 2nd generation) by its power lead. Do not hang HomePod mini by its power cable.
HomePod is for indoor use only.
HomePod may be damaged by improper storage or handling. Be careful not to drop it when it is being transported.
Power (HomePod (1st and 2nd generation)) HomePod has no on/off switch. Also, HomePod may appear to be off and disconnected from its power source when it is actually still connected and in standby. To disconnect it from power, unplug the power lead. Make sure the main plug of the power lead is always easily accessible. When connecting or disconnecting it, always hold the plug by its sides. Do not unplug by pulling the power lead. Keep fingers away from the metal part of the plug. Protect the power lead from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles and the point where it exits from HomePod.
Power (HomePod mini) Power HomePod mini with the included USB power adapter. You can also power HomePod mini with third-party power adapters that are rated 20W (9V⎓ 2.22A), and compliant with USB 2.0 or later and with applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards. Other adapters may not meet applicable safety standards and using such adapters could pose a risk of death or injury.

Do not unplug by pulling the power cable. Keep fingers away from the metal part of the plug. Protect the power cable from being walked on or pinched, particularly at the power adapter, convenience receptacles and the point where it exits from HomePod mini. Using a damaged power cable or adapter, or using when moisture is present, can cause fire, electric shock, injury or damage to HomePod mini or other property. When you use the included power adapter to power HomePod mini, make sure the power cable is fully inserted into the power adapter before you plug the adapter into a power outlet. It’s important to keep HomePod mini and its power adapter in a well-ventilated area when in use.
Prolonged heat exposure (HomePod mini) HomePod mini and its USB power adapter comply with required surface temperature limits defined by applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards. However, even within these limits, sustained contact with warm surfaces for long periods of time may cause discomfort or injury. Use common sense to avoid situations where your skin is in contact with a device or its power adapter when it’s operating or connected to a power source for long periods of time. For example, don’t sleep on a device or power adapter or place them under a blanket, pillow or your body, when it’s connected to a power source. Keep your HomePod mini and its power adapter in a well-ventilated area when in use. Take special care if you have a physical condition that affects your ability to detect heat against the body.
USB power adapter (HomePod mini) To operate the Apple USB power adapter safely and reduce the possibility of heat-related injury or damage, plug the power adapter directly into a power outlet. Donʼt use the power adapter in wet locations such as near a sink, bathtub or shower cubicle, and don’t connect or disconnect the power adapter with wet hands. Stop using the power adapter and power cable if any of the following conditions exist:
The power adapter plug or prongs are damaged.
The power cable becomes frayed or otherwise damaged.
The power adapter is exposed to excessive moisture or liquid is spilled into the power adapter.
The power adapter has been dropped and its casing is damaged.
Medical device interference HomePod contains magnets and/or components and radios that emit electromagnetic fields. These electromagnetic fields might interfere with medical devices.
Consult your doctor and medical device manufacturer for information specific to your medical device and whether you need to maintain a safe distance of separation between your medical device and HomePod. Manufacturers often provide recommendations on the safe use of their devices around wireless or magnet products to prevent possible interference. If you suspect HomePod is interfering with your medical device, stop using your HomePod.
Avoid hearing damage Listening to sound at high volumes may permanently damage your hearing. Background noise, as well as continued exposure to high volume levels, can make sounds seem quieter than they actually are. For more information about hearing loss, see apple.com/uk/sound.
