Use Magic Keyboard with iPod touch
You can use Magic Keyboard (available separately) to enter text on iPod touch.
Note: Magic Keyboard doesn’t support all of the features that are available with the onscreen keyboard. For example, you can’t turn on dictation with Magic Keyboard.
For compatibility information about Apple Wireless Keyboard and third-party Bluetooth keyboards, see the Apple Support article Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Keyboard compatibility with iOS devices.
Connect Magic Keyboard to iPod touch
The keyboard uses a Bluetooth connection to iPod touch, so you need to pair them.
Make sure the keyboard is turned on and charged.
Tip: You can use the Battery widget to monitor the keyboard charge.
On iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, then turn on Bluetooth.
Tap Magic Keyboard when it appears in the Other Devices list.
Magic Keyboard disconnects when you turn the switch on the back of the keyboard to Off or when you move the keyboard or iPod touch out of Bluetooth range—about 33 feet (10 meters). To reconnect, turn the switch to On or bring the keyboard and iPod touch back into range, then tap any key. When Magic Keyboard is connected, the onscreen keyboard doesn’t appear.
To unpair Magic Keyboard, see Unpair a Bluetooth device.
Note: If Magic Keyboard is already paired with another device, you must unpair them before you can connect Magic Keyboard to your iPod touch. On Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth, select the device, then Control-click its name. For iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, see Unpair a Bluetooth device.
Open Search using Magic Keyboard
Press Command-Space.
Switch keyboards
You can switch between keyboards—for example, English, Emoji, and any keyboards you added for typing in different languages.
On Magic Keyboard, press and hold Shift-Control.
Press the Space bar to cycle through the languages.
Tip: If you added a Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or Hebrew keyboard, you can use the Caps Lock key to quickly switch back and forth between Latin script and the other keyboard you’re using.
Switch between Magic Keyboard and the onscreen keyboard
To use the onscreen keyboard, press on Magic Keyboard. To use Magic Keyboard, press again.
