Change a book’s appearance in Books on Mac
You can customize the way pages appear in books you read in the Books app.
Show one or two pages in a book
Go to the Books app on your Mac.
Click Books (or another collection) in the sidebar, then double-click a book.
Drag the window’s sides left or right until you see one or two pages.
Customize how text and pages appear in a book
Go to the Books app on your Mac.
Click Books (or another collection) in the sidebar, then double-click a book.
Move the pointer to the top of the book, then click .
Choose an option. Options may include:
Change the font size: Click the A buttons at the top to make the font smaller or larger.
To undo font size changes, Control-click an A button, then click Reset Text Size.
Choose a page theme: Click a theme such as Original, Quiet, or Paper.
Customize a page theme: Click the theme tile, click Customize, then turn on Customize. Choose or adjust options, then click Done.
To undo page theme changes, click Customize, then click Reset Theme.
Change the page background: Click , then choose Light, Dark, or Automatic.
Change the font: Click Customize, click Font, choose a font, then click Done.
Display bold text: Click Customize, then turn on Bold Text.
Customize page layout and accessibility options: Click Customize, turn on Customize, then drag a slider to adjust spacing.
Choose whether to align text with left and right margins: Click Customize, turn on Customize, then turn Justify Text on or off.
Choose single or multiple columns: Click Customize, turn on Customize, then turn Allow Multiple Columns on or off.

Change hyphenation in a book
Go to the Books app on your Mac.
Choose Books > Settings, then click Reading.
Select or deselect Auto-hyphenation.
