Authorize your Mac to get purchases from the Book Store, Audiobook Store, or the Audible website
If you purchase books or audiobooks on other devices from the Book Store or Audiobook Store in Apple Books, you can see those purchases on your Mac by authorizing your computer. You can authorize up to five computers, iOS devices, and iPadOS devices to use with your Apple ID account.
You can also authorize your Mac to play audiobooks downloaded from the Audible website (audible.com).
Authorize your Mac
In the Books app on your Mac, choose Store > Authorize This Computer.
If you haven’t already, sign in using the same Apple ID you use on your other devices.
Your Mac is now authorized for the Book Store and Audiobook Store.
Deauthorize your Mac
Be sure to deauthorize your Mac before you sell it, give it away, send it in for service, or make major hardware upgrades.
In the Books app on your Mac, choose Store > Deauthorize This Computer.
Authorize your Mac to play audiobooks purchased on audible.com
Audible is a third-party website that sells audiobooks and other spoken programs. Before you can listen to an audiobook that you download from the Audible website, your Mac needs to be authorized on audible.com.
In the Books app on your Mac, click Library in the toolbar, then click Audiobooks in the sidebar.
Find an item downloaded from the Audible website, then double-click the item.
Click Yes in the dialog that appears.
Sign in to audible.com if necessary, then follow the onscreen instructions.
You can authorize up to three computers to play purchases from the Audible website. To deauthorize Audible on a computer, visit audible.com, sign in to your Audible account, and follow the onscreen instructions for deauthorizing a computer.
Books authorization is managed in Books. To learn how to see your authorized computers, deauthorize a computer no longer in your possession, and more, see the Apple Support article about deauthorizing your computer.
