Mark a location with a pin in Maps on Mac
You can drop a pin at a location to get directions or help you find it again. Pins are temporary, but you can save a location to use later by marking it as a favorite.
Drop a pin
Go to the Maps app on your Mac.
Control-click a location, then choose Mark Location.
Maps drops a pin at the location on the map. You can have only one dropped pin on the map at a time, unless you save it to your library.
To save the pin, click , name the location, then click Save.
Scroll down the place card, then click Pin.
To close the place card, click outside of it.
Pins appear in your library as icons. To see all your pins in a list, click below Library in the sidebar, then click Pinned.

Make a pin your home, work, or school address
Go to the Maps app on your Mac.
Drop a pin, as above.
Hold your pointer over the location you want to assign to your home, work, or school address, then click .
Below Type, select “My home,” “My work,” or “My school.”
Remove a pin
You can remove a pin that you drop.
Go to the Maps app on your Mac.
Do any of the following:
Control-click the pin on the map or in the sidebar, then choose Unpin or Remove Marked Location.
Select the pin, scroll down in the card, then click Remove.
Select the pin, click , then choose Unpin or Remove.
Click below Library in the sidebar, then click Pinned. On a trackpad, swipe left with two fingers on the pin, then click Delete.
