Accessibility features on Apple TV
Apple TV includes built-in accessibility features to support your vision, mobility, hearing, and speech needs.
Vision
VoiceOver: VoiceOver is Apple’s screen reader, available in all the languages supported by Apple TV, and with support for Braille displays. Use VoiceOver to hear exactly what’s on your TV screen and choose commands.
Zoom: Turn on Zoom to access a built-in magnifier that works anywhere on the Apple TV screen. With magnification adjustable up to 15 times the normal size, Zoom can help with a range of vision challenges.
Text display settings: Use Hover Text to display a selection box that enlarges any text you select onscreen, or turn on bold text to make all text easier to read.
Light, color, and contrast: Adjust light and color settings to help with color differentiation or light sensitivity, or increase screen contrast to make items easier to see.
Reduce Motion: Set screen motion preferences to stop the movement of app icons, movie posters, and other onscreen elements. You can also set controls to dim flashing or strobing lights during video playback.
Audio Descriptions: Use audio descriptions to hear narration describing what’s happening onscreen in movies, TV shows, and workouts.
Mobility
Switch Control: Control Apple TV using a connected Bluetooth® device or other supported device as a switch.
AirPods mobility controls: Set AirPods controls for press responsiveness, noise, and Spatial Audio when you use AirPods with Apple TV.
Tap to Navigate: Turn on Tap to Navigate so you can tap buttons on the remote instead of pressing them.
Hearing
Audio balance: Set hearing controls to adjust the overall audio balance on your Apple TV or turn on mono audio.
Closed captions and SDH: Set preferences for closed captioning or subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH), for new TV episodes and thousands of movies.
Live Captions for FaceTime: Turn on Live Captions in FaceTime to see a real-time transcription of your conversation on screen.
Isolate dialogue: Isolate the dialog to deliver absolute vocal clarity over music, action, and background noise on Apple TV 4K. See Add Voice Isolation as an Enhance Dialogue option on Apple TV.
Speech
Type to Siri: Instead of speaking to Siri, you have the option to type Siri queries using the onscreen keyboard on Apple TV, a connected wireless Bluetooth keyboard, or an iPhone or iPad.
