Download previous iTunes Store purchases in Music on Mac
If you’ve purchased items from the iTunes Store, you can download most of them to your authorized computers and devices (up to 10 total).
You can also check for purchases that haven’t been downloaded to your computer, or have Music check for them automatically. This is useful, for example, if a download is interrupted.
Download previous purchases to an authorized computer
Downloading previous purchases from the iTunes Store is a great way to add items to your devices without having to sync or copy files, and you can use this method to replace iTunes Store files you accidentally lost or deleted.
In the Music app on your Mac, click iTunes Store in the sidebar.
If you don’t see iTunes Store in the sidebar, choose Music > Preferences, click General, make sure iTunes Store is selected, then click OK.
Click Purchased (below Quick Links) near the top right of the iTunes Store window.
Click Music near the top right of the page that appears.
Music shows you which of your purchases are available for download. You can view all of your past purchases, or just the ones not currently in your music library. Items already in your library aren’t available for download.
You can view your purchases by song, artist, or album. If you’re viewing by album, click an album to see which songs on it are available for downloading.
To search for an item, type its name or a keyword in the search field, then press the Return key to view your search results.
To download an item, click its Download button .
To find out how to download previous purchases to your device, see the user guide for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. For a device that doesn’t use the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, get the user guide from the Apple Support manuals website.
Make sure all your purchases have been downloaded
Make sure you’re connected to the internet.
In the Music app on your Mac, choose Account > Check for Available Downloads.
If requested, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Check.
Purchases not yet on your computer are downloaded.
Set Music to check for purchases automatically
In the Music app on your Mac, choose Music > Preferences, then click General.
Select “Always check for available downloads.”
Tip: You can also download previously purchased music by clicking the Download button next to an item in your music library. If you don’t see the Download button next to previous purchases, choose Music > Preferences, click General, then select Sync Library.
Some types of previously purchased content might not be available in some countries or regions. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.
