Creating classes for Schoolwork and Classroom
There are several ways to create classes for students and teachers. Selecting your best option depends on several factors—for example, considering whether your organization has created Managed Apple IDs, whether you’re using Shared iPad, or whether you need the ability for teachers to add classes that aren’t represented in your Student Information System, such as after-school clubs or enrichment activities.
If your school has created Managed Apple IDs for students and teachers, it’s best practice to create class rosters in Apple School Manager that are automatically available in Schoolwork and Classroom after students and teachers log in to their device. Schoolwork requires the use of Managed Apple IDs.
If you don’t use Managed Apple IDs, you can configure the Classroom app (but not Schoolwork) with managed classes using your MDM solution, or teachers can create their own unmanaged classes in Classroom by inviting nearby students.
