Intro to the iTunes Store on PC
The iTunes Store is the world’s number one music store, with millions of songs, albums, videos and more for purchase, as well as many free items, such as podcasts and educational lectures.
To visit the store, click Store in the navigation bar. To view other parts of the store, choose a media type from the pop-up menu at the top left.
Items you buy, download or rent from the iTunes Store are added instantly to your iTunes library. You can also set up automatic downloading so that items you download from the store are downloaded to all your computers and devices, not just the one you used to get the items.
What you need
An Apple ID (or Apple Account). See Set up and view an iTunes Store account.
An internet connection (DSL, cable or LAN) is recommended.
If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the iTunes Store, it might not be available. To submit a request to the iTunes Store, go to the iTunes Store Requests website.
Important: All sales are final. Your account is charged when you click a Buy or Rent button.
The iTunes Store may not be available in all countries or regions, and iTunes Store content may vary by country or region.
Usage rights for iTunes Store purchases
All songs offered by the iTunes Store come without Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection. These DRM-free songs, called iTunes Plus, have no usage restrictions and feature high-quality, 256 kbps AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) encoding.
If you previously purchased content from the iTunes Store that was protected by DRM, these protected purchases can be:
Played on up to five authorised computers
Synced with your iPhone, iPad or iPod
To learn how to add other content to iTunes, see How to add items.
