Get started with Safari on Mac
Learn these Safari basics to quickly get up to speed.
Start with the Smart Search field
To go to a website, enter its name or web address in the Smart Search field at the top of the Safari window. You can also use the Smart Search field to search the web for almost anything. Just enter what you’re looking for—like “restaurants near me.”
Set your homepage
A homepage is one you like to visit often, and you can have it appear whenever you open a new Safari window. You can change your your homepage to any webpage you like—or even a blank page.
Bookmark websites
When you find websites you want to go back to, you can bookmark them so you can easily revisit them. For the websites you visit most often, you can add them to your Favorites and then quickly find them at the top of the Safari window.
