Turn on Live Captions in FaceTime on Mac
While you’re on a video call, you can turn on Live Captions (Beta) to see the conversation transcribed on the screen. If you’re having difficulty hearing the conversation, Live Captions can make it easier to follow along. All audio is processed on your Mac.
Note: Live Captions is currently in beta, is only available on Mac computers with Apple silicon, and is not available in all languages, countries, or regions. The accuracy of Live Captions may vary and should not be relied upon in high-risk or emergency situations. Live Captions uses additional power.
During a video call in the FaceTime app on your Mac, select Live Captions (Beta) in the sidebar.
If you don’t see the sidebar, click the Sidebar button at the bottom of the window.
If asked, click Download.
A language model for generating and displaying automatic captions is downloaded to your Mac.
To turn off Live Captions, deselect Live Captions in the sidebar.
