Share songs from a shared media library in Music on Mac
You can set up a maximum of five computers on a local network (such as a home Wi-Fi network) to share their media libraries with each other. If a shared computer is turned on and Music is open, you can play that computer’s shared items on other computers in the network, but you can’t import the shared items into their libraries.
If you want to import items from media libraries on other computers in your home network, you can turn on Home Sharing. See Import media using Home Sharing in Music on Mac.
Share your library with other computers
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sharing, then select Media Sharing.
Select “Share media with guests,” then choose Options.
To require users to enter a password before they can see your shared items, select “Require password,” then enter a password.
Select the playlists you want to share, or choose “All songs, movies, and TV shows.”
You can share radio station links and certain audio files (MP3, Apple Lossless, AIFF, WAV, and AAC).
Play items from a shared library
In the Music app on your Mac, click the arrow next to Library, then choose a shared library.
Move the pointer over any song, then click the Play button .
Change the name of your shared library
If you share your entire library, its name appears in the Home Sharing menu on other local computers set up to look for shared libraries. You can change the name that others see.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sharing, then select Media Sharing.
Type a new name in the Library Name field.
Turn off sharing
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sharing, then select Media Sharing.
