Contacts MDM payload settings for Apple devices
Use the Contacts payload to provide account settings for connecting to the CardDAV-compliant contact server. This payload is for users of an iPhone, iPad, or Mac enrolled in a mobile device management (MDM) solution. If you omit the account information, users need to enter it manually when the profile is installed.
The Contacts payload supports the following. For more information, see Payload information.
Supported payload identifier: com.apple.carddav.account
Supported operating systems and channels: iOS, iPadOS, Shared iPad user, macOS user, visionOS 1.1.
Supported enrollment types: User Enrollment, Device Enrollment, Automated Device Enrollment.
Duplicates allowed: True—more than one Contacts payload can be delivered to a user or device.
You can use the settings in the table below with the Contacts payload.
Setting | Description | Required | |||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Hostname | The IP address or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the CardDAV server. | Yes | |||||||||

Communication service rules | You can select a default app to be used when calling contacts from this account. | No |
Note: Each MDM vendor implements these settings differently. To learn how various Contacts settings are applied to your devices and users, consult your MDM vendor’s documentation.
