Control Apple TV with the Apple TV Remote app
You can use the Apple TV Remote app on an iOS device to control Apple TV.
Use the Touch area and buttons in the Apple TV Remote app to control Apple TV.
Note: Additional controls appear during playback. Tap the Back 10 button 
to skip backward 10 seconds, or tap the Skip 10 button 
to skip forward 10 seconds.
Navigate and select apps, content, and lists
On the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, do any of the following:
Navigate apps and content: Swipe left, right, up, or down in the Touch area.
Onscreen, a highlighted app or content item expands slightly.
Navigate lists: Swipe up or down a few times in the Touch area to scroll quickly. If there’s an index next to the list, swipe right, then highlight a letter to jump ahead.
Select an item: Swipe to highlight the item, then tap the Touch area.
View additional menu options
With an item highlighted on the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, touch and hold the Touch area.
If you’ve highlighted an item that has additional options, they appear in a pop-up menu.
Use the app keyboard
When the onscreen keyboard appears on Apple TV, an iOS keyboard becomes available in the Apple TV Remote app.
Enter text in the iOS keyboard.
Onscreen text updates as you type. If the keyboard doesn’t appear, tap the keyboard button
to show the keyboard.
Show the Now Playing screen
The Now Playing screen in the Apple TV Remote app displays a still image of the current video along with basic playback controls.
During video playback, tap Details, and then use the built-in controls in the Apple TV Remote app to control playback. Drag down from the top of the Now Playing screen to return to the Touch area.
Adjust the volume
Press the volume buttons on your iOS device.

Switch to game mode
While playing a game, tap the Game button
to switch the Apple TV Remote app to game mode. Hold your iOS device in landscape orientation and use the Touch area and buttons to play the game.
Return to the previous screen or Home screen
On the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, do any of the following:
Return to the previous screen: Tap the
button.Return to the Home screen: Touch and hold the
button.Return to the Apple TV app: Tap the Home button
once to go to Up Next in the Apple TV App.To change the Home button behavior, see Set the Home button destination on Apple TV.
View open apps
On the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, tap the Home button
twice.
Put Apple TV to sleep
On the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, touch and hold the Home button
, then select Sleep.
Activate Siri
On the Apple TV Remote app on your iOS device, touch and hold the Siri button
