Global HTTP Proxy MDM payload settings for Apple devices
Use the Global HTTP Proxy payload to specify a proxy for all HTTP traffic to and from an iPhone, iPad, Mac computer, or Apple TV device that’s enrolled in an MDM solution.
If you choose Manual proxy type, you need the proxy server address—including its port and optionally a user name and password—for logging in to the proxy server. If you choose Auto proxy type, you can enter a proxy auto-config (PAC) URL.
The Global HTTP Proxy payload supports the following. For more information, see Payload information.
Supported payload identifier: com.apple.proxy.http.global
Supported operating systems and channels: iOS, iPadOS, Shared iPad device, macOS device, tvOS.
Supported enrollment types: Automated Device Enrollment.
Duplicates allowed: False—only one Global HTTP Proxy payload can be delivered to a device.
You can use the settings in the table below with the Global HTTP Proxy payload.
Setting | Description | Required | |||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Proxy type | Use Manual for proxies that require authentication. | Yes | |||||||||
Hostname | The IP address or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the proxy server. Required if the proxy type is Manual. | Yes | |||||||||
Port | The port number of the proxy server. Required if the proxy type is Manual. | Yes | |||||||||

Allow bypassing proxy to access captive networks | The device ignores proxy settings to display the login page for captive networks. | No |
Note: Each MDM vendor implements these settings differently. To learn how various Global HTTP Proxy settings are applied to your devices, consult your MDM vendor’s documentation.
