Change the language for display, audio, and subtitles in the Apple TV app

You can choose which display, audio, and subtitle language to use in the Apple TV app.

Change language and subtitle settings

Go to the Apple TV app on your smart TV, streaming device, or gaming console.
Open the sidebar, then select Settings.
Do any of the following:
- Change the display language: Select Language, then select a language.
- Change the audio language: Select Audio Language, then select a language.
- Change the subtitle language: Select Subtitle Language, then select a language.
- Active subtitles when you play a movie or TV show in a language other than the display language: Select Automatic Subtitles, then turn on Show for Different Languages.
- Activate subtitles when audio is muted: Select Automatic Subtitles, then turn on Show when Muted.
- Activate subtitles when you skip backward for 10–30 seconds: Select Automatic Subtitles, then turn on Show on Skip Back.
