Add an email attachment in Mail on iCloud.com

You can attach one or more files to an email.

Tip: You can also share files with other iCloud users through iCloud Drive. See Share files and folders in iCloud Drive on iCloud.com.

Add an attachment

In Mail on iCloud.com, while writing an email, click in the top-right corner of the email window.
Tip: You can also drag the file directly into the email.
Choose to attach your file from iCloud Drive, iCloud Photos or your device.
Select the files you want to attach, then click Attach or Upload.

If your attachments are too large to send in an email, you’re asked if you want to deliver the attachments using Mail Drop or an iCloud Link (if you’re attaching files from iCloud Photos; not available in all countries or regions).

Note: If you send an email with large attachments, it might be returned by the recipient’s email service if your email exceeds the size limit set by that email service.

Remove an attachment

In Mail on iCloud.com, while writing an email, hold the pointer over the attachment in the email window.
Click .
You can only remove an attachment before you send the email.

You can’t remove files already sent with Mail Drop. They expire after 30 days.

Turn on Mail Drop for large attachments

You can use Mail Drop to upload large attachments to iCloud, where they’re encrypted. Recipients see an attachment or a Mail Drop link in the email, and they can download the files for up to 30 days after they’re sent. See the Apple Support article Mail Drop limits.

In Mail on iCloud.com, click at the top of the Mailboxes list, then choose Settings.
Click Composing, then select “Use Mail Drop when sending large attachments.”
