Download purchased and updated books in Books on Mac
If you purchased books from the Book Store on other devices, you can download and see those books on your Mac. You can download books purchased by family members (if you use Family Sharing) and get book updates.
Download books you purchased on other devices
You must be signed in to the Book Store with the same Apple ID you used to buy or download the books.
In the Books app on your Mac, click Library in the toolbar.
Click All Books, click Sort By (at the top right of your library), then choose Show iCloud Books.
If you see Hide iCloud Books, the books are already displayed.
Double-click a book that has an iCloud status icon to download and open it.
Hidden books don’t appear and can’t be downloaded.
Tip: You can have books you purchase on other devices automatically download to your Mac. In the Books app on your Mac, choose Books > Preferences, click Store, then select “Download new purchases automatically.”
Download books purchased by family members
You must be signed in to the Book Store with the same Apple ID you use for Family Sharing.
In the Books app on your Mac, click Book Store in the toolbar (or choose Store > Store Home).
On the right below Quick Links, click Purchased.
Next to Purchased, click your name, then choose another family member.
Click the iCloud status icon on a book you want to add to your library.
You may be asked to enter your account information.
Hidden books don’t appear and can’t be downloaded.
Download book updates
In the Books app on your Mac, in the top-right corner of your library or the Book Store, click the Downloads button .
The Downloads button is shown only when book updates are available.
Choose specific books to update or click Update All.
If you use iCloud for Books, any books and PDFs that you import on another device are automatically downloaded to your Mac as long as it has enough storage space.
