Manage accessories and share control of your home with iCloud
With iCloud, you can control your HomeKit accessories from all your devices and allow others to share control of your home.
Access and control your accessories on all your devices
When you set up iCloud for Home, information about your HomeKit accessories is stored in the cloud, which frees up space on your device.
You can add an accessory to Home using your iPhone and iPad. Because the information is stored in the cloud, you can control and manage your HomeKit accessories on any device that’s set up for iCloud and Home, including your iPhone, iPad, and Mac. You can also activate accessories and run scenes on your Apple TV.
If you have a home hub set up, you can control your accessories remotely. If you don’t, you can control them when you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the accessories.
Changes you make on one device—like renaming an accessory, organizing accessories in rooms, or creating a scene—automatically appear on all your devices. Your home stays up to date, no matter where you access it.
Allow others to share control of your home
You can share control of your home with others who use iCloud, and they can use the Home app to control your HomeKit accessories.
When you invite someone to control your home, you decide if they can do the following:
Add or manage people and accessories, or just control the accessories that are already added
Control accessories remotely, or only control accessories if they’re on the same Wi-Fi network
