Use the virtual keyboard with VoiceOver on Apple Vision Pro
VoiceOver changes how you use the virtual keyboard when you activate an editable text field. In addition to dictation, you can type with basic VoiceOver navigation gestures or Typing Mode in the rotor.
Use the VoiceOver tutorial to practice typing. See Practice VoiceOver gestures.
Enter text with the virtual keyboard
Select a text field, then left index pinch (or right ring pinch).
The insertion point and the virtual keyboard appear.
Enter text using one of the following methods:
Dictation: Tap on the keyboard, then say what you want to type.
VoiceOver navigation gestures: Use the basic gestures (such as right middle finger and thumb or right index finger and thumb) to navigate keys, and use your left index finger and thumb to select them.
Typing Mode: Select Typing Mode in the rotor to move focus to the virtual keyboard. Use the index finger on your dominant hand to point at keys, then tap your other index finger and thumb to select them.
Change the keyboard settings
Go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver.
Tap any of the following:
Phonetic Feedback: Tap Typing, then choose an option to speak text character by character. VoiceOver first speaks the character, then its phonetic equivalent—for example, “f” and then “foxtrot.”
Typing Feedback: Tap Typing, then choose to speak characters, words, both, or nothing.
Rotor: Tap Rotor, then select the settings you want to include in the rotor.
Verbosity: Tap Verbosity, then tap Deleting Text. To have VoiceOver speak deleted characters in a lower pitch, tap Change Pitch.
