WWF Over the Edge

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

WWF Over the Edge was a professional wrestling PPV that was produced by WWF. It had two PPVs but was retired after the second event, where wrestler Owen Hart, competing as the Blue Blazer at that time, died after he fell 78 feet from a harness to the ring during an entrance stunt and landed chest-first on the top rope, about a foot from the nearest turnbuckle.[1]

Event: Date: City: Venue: Notes:
Over the Edge: In Your House May 31, 1998[2] Milwaukee, Wisconsin[2] Wisconsin Center Arena[2] Stone Cold Steve Austin beat Dude Love in a No Disqualification Falls Count Anywhere match (with Vince McMahon as Special Guest Referee) to retain the WWF Championship.[2]
Over the Edge (1999) May 23, 1999[3] Kansas City, Missouri[3] Kemper Arena[3] The Undertaker beat Stone Cold Steve Austin in the main event to win the WWF Championship, however the death of Owen Hart overshadowed the events. Hart was supposed to face The Godfather for the WWF Intercontinental Championship but Hart died, however, when he fell from the top of the arena while he was preparing for a stunt entrance.[3][4]
