Not necessarily surprising but nevertheless a bang after 43 years. Since 1977, Seychelles has had a consistent government under the name of United Seychelles with the 4th President Danny Faure. Seychelles will make history in 2020 with the elections on 25.10.2020 and the new president Wavel Ramkalawan from the opposition party LDS.
It became apparent very early on that the mood of the electorate was calling for a new president for the Seychelles. Many weeks earlier there had been frequent meetings of his PartyThe LDS (Linyon Democracy Seselwa) and you could see many flags on cars, flags on houses and people wearing LDS T-shirts with the face of Wavel Ramkalawan.
He has tried it 5 times since 1998, always failed very close, but now he has reached his goal on his 6th attempt.
35,562 voters, which corresponds to an electoral quota of 54.9%, voted for him in the first round of voting. In addition, his party wins 25 seats in the parliament, which now consists of 35 seats in total.
The elections themselves were clean, fair and calm although there was a high turnout of about 78%.
Tomorrow, 26.10.2020, was declared a holiday by the still incumbent President Danny Faure for the inauguration, so that the people of the Seychelles, even a picture of the new President, Wavel Ramkalawan, can get an idea of his sworn into office.
Nothing unusual, yet certainly exciting instead of a sea of previously red T-shirts and flags, banners and banners, now to see the LDS colour in green and white.
Certainly the appointment of the president is accompanied by a loud and much honking motorcade, which is traditional for the LDS party and its events.
Not to be forgotten is also the new Vice-President Ahmed Afif, who, as LDS, was previously a member of the National Assembly, i.e. the Seychelles Parliament, and was also a great supporter of the Offshore Financial Sector is.
One can now be very curious to see what will change with the new, right-wing government of the LDS. The Seychellois wanted a change, which in the tense situation caused by the Corona crisis will certainly be a very difficult task for the new president team of Ramkalawan and Afif.
The main economic factors in Seychelles are tourism, fisheries and financial services (i.e. banking, business services, trust services, securities, etc.). The gross domestic product (nominal) in 2019 was approximately USD 1.65 billion or slightly more than USD 17,127 per capita, putting Seychelles in 53rd place in the world and first in Africa out of 54 countries that even surpass oil-rich Equatorial Guinea.
GDP growth in 2019 was 3,57%.
Sure, who "SeychellesWhen you hear the word "island", you probably think of a holiday in a dreamlike setting, with endless sandy beaches and wonderful scenery. But the island paradise has much more to offer. The Seychelles are not only interesting for tourists, but also for entrepreneurs. "They offer very special advantages for setting up offshore companies, and completely legally," knows Karl Schnürch, the owner of Offshore Seychelles.
What are the benefits of setting up an offshore company?
Founders of companies don't exactly have it easy these days. Especially at the beginning, you have to count on every cent. The International Business Companies Act 1994 and the IBC extension in 2016 and 2018 have made Seychelles' offshore sector even more interesting for foreign companies.
The unique legal system of the island state has many advantages. For example, there is an improved liability structure or the possibility to remain anonymous in order to avoid annoying competitors. Sometimes smaller companies in particular simply need a virtual office with the right address. In addition, offshore company formation offers the opportunity to free oneself from European or worldwide regulations, to save oneself the stress of dealing with lawyers or to secure licenses, patents and assets.

Offshore as career springboard
For example, if you want to run an independent business as a digital nomad, as many do nowadays, then an offshore company is also the best choice. SEO service providers, licensees, e-commerce and dropshipping operators, consultants, emigrants, intellectual property rights defenders - the list of potential users of a legal offshore company in the Seychelles is long.
Today, the Seychelles are one of the leading offshore centres, not only in the Indian Ocean, but even worldwide. They inspire with their freedom of movement and infrastructure. Especially for a clientele that ranges from private investors to company founders and global corporations.
A great advantage: First-class advice for German and international interested parties
"We have been on the Seychelles for 13 years now", Karl Schnürch reports. "As native speakers we offer advice in German, so that everything runs smoothly."
Because the team of experts in the Offshore Seychelles is very well versed in this field, they offer not only the service of company formation. "We can also optionally build real substance. If desired, we can take care of the office, employees, address including service charge settlement and much more," says the owner of Offshore Seychelles.
Offshore Seychelles offers more than ten years of experience and an excellent local network. "It makes sense to have local contacts," says Karl Schnürch. "We are always available and can communicate in many languages. Anyone can set up an IBC Offshore company in the Seychelles - regardless of location."

Emirates flight EK705 from Dubai landed at 6.30 in the morning, the first aircraft to arrive after the Seychelles reopened its borders on 1 August.
The international Airport of the Seychelles was closed in March due to travel restrictions on commercial passenger flights to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the 115-island state in the Western Indian Ocean.
In accordance with the security protocols established by the Health and Civil Aviation Authority of the Seychelles (SCAA), passengers were asked to leave the aircraft in batches of 30 in order to follow the usual procedures at immigration counters.
In addition, each passenger had their temperature checked and examined for COVID-19-related symptoms.
Media representatives were not allowed to talk to passengers.
Tourism Minister Didier Dogley told the assembled reporters that the process is a bit slow, as this is the first time these procedures have been implemented.
"We expected things to be slow in the beginning because this is the first time, but as the week goes on, people will be able to move a little faster. Above all, we want to make sure that everything is done right," Dogley said.
He explained that the workers at the airport all wore masks, maintained the recommended social distance and practiced good hygiene.
"They are not afraid, as we might have expected them to be. They take their work seriously and trust in what they do and that is the key for us. We are on the right track," Dogley said.
He explained that his ministry will probably be informed on Monday how things went for each authority present at the reopening of the airport.
In addition to officials working with passengers, a group of representatives from destination management companies, hotels and taxi drivers were also present to take passengers to their respective accommodation.
Barry Pillay, a taxi driver, said in an interview that he was proud and happy to be back at work.
"I hope that everything goes well and everyone gets a chance to do their job. When it comes to wearing masks and practicing good hygiene, we attended a seminar last Saturday that was very interesting. I am more than ready to put into practice everything I have learned," said Pillay.
A second commercial passenger flight will land in Seychelles around 6pm as Air Seychelles returns from Mauritius.
