The trustees of the Clifford B. Harmon Trust announced yesterday cancellation of the award of the Aeronaut's Trophy for 1963 to Mrs. Nini Boesman, a balloonist of the Netherlands.
No reflection on the skill or integrity of Mrs. Boesman or upon the Balloon Club of the Hague, which supported her nomination, is intended, the trustees said. The decision to cancel the award was based on an investigation that showed that Mrs. Boesman had carried a passenger on her flight, the organization said. The award is conferred only for solo flights.
The awards to three other winners of Harmon Trophies are to be presented by President Johnson at the White House next Monday. They are Maj. L. Gordon Cooper of the Air Force Mrs. Betty Miller of Santa Monica, Calif., and Maj. Fitzhugh L. Fulton Jr. of the Air Force.
