Runt, by his tales of wonderful adventure to be gained in the city he himself soon plans to visit, causes Florence to yearn to be one of the myriad lights that help to make the Great White Way burn so brightly. When Runt reaches the city he falls into the clutches of a lawless gang and soon becomes one of its most ardent members. Scheming to gain possession of her riches, Runt writes to Florence telling her to come to town where he will show her the sights. Poor Plump is heartbroken at the departure of his sweetheart. Premonition tells Plump that his loved one is in danger. He hastens to the city where he finds a clue to Florence's whereabouts and follows her trail to the den where she is about to fall a victim at the hands of the gang's leader.
