Snodgrass, Klyne Ryland was born on December 28, 1944 in Kingsport, Tennessee, United States. Son of Charles Sidney and Wanda Virginia (Lauderback) Snodgrass.
Snodgrass earned his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia Bible College, his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and his Doctor of Philosophy in 1973 from the University of Saint Andrews, Scotland, where he completed a dissertation on "The Christological Stone Testimonia in the New Testament." He taught at Georgetown College in Kentucky from 1973 to 1974, when he joined the faculty of North Park Theological Seminary.
