Nas Learns About His Ancestors on PBS' "Finding Your Roots"

Nas appeared on the PBS show "Finding Your Roots", which helps celebrities learn more about their ancestry. The rapper is taken through five generations, and most poignantly, shown a bill of sale for a slave—his great great great grandmother, Pocahontas. "A receipt for a human being," he says. "This is painful, now. To see that—that hurts."

When he learns more about man who bought Pocahontas for $830, he offhandedly tells host Henry Louis Gates Jr. that he's considering buying the land where he lived. Watch the episode below.
