If the Christmas tree perched on top of the spire is any indication, the Comcast Technology Center is officially the tallest building in Philly.

The tree typically commemorates the topping off of a building, and if one squints hard enough one can see that there’s a tree on top of the 60-story tower at 18th and Arch. The news comes about four months after Curbed Philly reported that the tower was nearly 150 feet away from topping out.

Developer Liberty Property Trust did not confirm an official topping off, but said in a statement provided to Curbed Philly, “We are now above the 1,050 feet” that was referenced in an Inquirer article published last week in which vice president John Gattuso said that the tower wasn’t at full height but was officially the tallest building in Philly.

The statement from Liberty Property Trust continued, “We will be continuing our work at the top of the building through the end of December.”

The 60-story tower has been under construction since 2014 and will be 1,121 feet tall. Not only is it Philadelphia’s tallest building, but it is the city’s first supertall building, which is defined as a skyscraper that is at least 1,000 feet tall.

The Foster+Partners-designed tower will also be the tallest building in outside of New York City and Chicago. The Four Seasons Hotel, which will take up the top levels of the tower, is slated to be the tallest hotel in the country when it opens in late 2018.

The rest of the building will serve as offices for Comcast employees and is expected to open in spring 2018.

In the meantime, here are some photos of the tower to ogle over, taken over the last couple of days. If you look very, very closely in the first photo, you might be able to spot the tree.
