Geneviève Petey will carry the Olympic torch. This is her story:
Geneviève, mother to two children, is a dedicated volunteer on the savate scene. She runs beginner's courses, including one reserved for women, where people can learn to practice a combat sport in a safe environment. She is also in charge of a mixed course that promotes inclusion in sports for all.
As the president of a Savate Boxe Française committee, Geneviève strives to deepen the ties among the clubs in her region. She teams up with other volunteers to organise competitions and training sessions for instructors and referees and works hard to promote sport among young people. One of her priorities is for the volunteers who lend their time to these projects to feel fulfilled and experience personal growth. As the vice-president of a regional league and a member of the Federal Steering Committee, she is active on all levels of the sport and helps shape its policy. This multiple-time medallist was awarded the Prix de Femme en Or in 2016 in recognition of her dedication.
