There are many ways to support the library! The Orange County Library System is a 501(c)3 organization and your donations may be tax deductible.
The Friends of the Orange County Library System support and cooperate with the library in enhancing resources, innovations, and services for the public. Visit their website to learn more about this 501(c)3 charitable organization and for more details about book endowments and bequests.
Monetary Donations
Monetary donations are always welcome and appreciated! Funds can be donated to the library’s general operations or designated for a particular area of interest. Funds donated to the library are used to support:
- Technology Development
- Children’s Services
- Programs and Educational Outreach
- General Library Services

Donating Books and A/V Materials
Donations are being accepted at Orlando Public Library. We are able to accept up to three boxes or bags that can be safely lifted by one person during regular library hours. Donations should be dropped off at the loading dock, which can be accessed via Wall Street.
Approved donation items:
- Books
- Vinyl records
- CDs / Audio Cassettes
- DVDs / Blu-ray discs / VHS
- Jigsaw puzzles and board games (all pieces must be included)
Donations should be clean and in good working condition. Unapproved materials or items not in good condition will be discarded.
We cannot accept:
- Collectibles, art, memorabilia or any other items not on the list above
- Items that are dirty or damaged or contain excessive writing or highlighting.
- Textbooks / Technology Guides
- Encyclopedia or reference sets with a publication date prior to 2021
If you have a larger quantity of items to donate, please review the guidelines on making a drop off appointment.
We generally pass donations along to the Friends of the Library. The Friends sell the items in their bookstore on the third floor of Orlando Public Library and in our branches, and generously donate the proceeds back to the library to support programs.
