In many projects of the Wikiverse, there are single or very small groups of users which are the only ones to possess a required knowledge or skill. This is most obvious for skills such as operation of a bot, fixing and creating templates or adjusting editing filters. Non-technical skills are e.g. the creation of maps or diagrams. This is problematic for at least two distinct reasons: On the one hand, it places pressure on these users to continue providing their knowledge or skill to their community which can quickly become a burden. On the other hand, when these users are absent temporarily or leave permanently, vital parts or workflows of the project cease to function. This is again most obvious when e.g. a vital bot stops working, but is true for all other knowledge and skill bottlenecks....

But it wouldn't include vandals, of course, as they deserve to be treated with hostility. In the Spanish Wikipedia exists a description of a number of symptoms, commonly known as "Wikipedia disease", a set of behaviors linked to particularly lengthy sessions of Wikipedia editing. You and I have found ourselves at 3 AM editing and finding an appropriate source, finishing a hard work session behind a category, maybe trying to have the last argument on a discussion... What is the maximum healthy amount of work that an average person can perform, according to scientific evidence? How many edits were made by a burned-out person, with warped perceptions of reality due to fatigue, loneliness, isolation, or the simple need for Wikipedia to be the only thing in the world? What happens if, with the help of experts, we can design an add-on that can remind Wikipedians about basic necessities like resting, going around, looking at something other than the screen, drinking water, sleeping, or getting out to real world? This could be based on the calculation of bytes added, on the session length, on the days and hours that the person has been sitting down editing? A series of messages could make a difference....

When an editor is blocked or banned, every effort should be made to 'rescue' them and allow them to contribute. We could call it the editor rescue squad or something similar. We abandon many editors once they have experienced a block or ban and assume that they are not open to change and improvement. On the English Wikipedia, we should have a safe, non judgmental space where experienced and kind-hearted editors will help those blocked or banned to recover from their blocks or bans and help them develop the editing skills they will need to move on and become productive once again. Since this would be a safe space, I do not think that it should be viewable by anyone who has been involved in the block or ban for the editors....

Wikipedia should study the fact that nearly EVERY edit done by IP is reverted. Those who have accounts (especially for a long time) wrongly believe that they own wikipedia - and they push out every other contributor, because they simply delete every edit. They often give ridiculous excuses to delete things (for examples: if they dont like the source, they delete the edit). If they are so interested in sources for stubs, maybe they should go and delete poorly sourced articles? Another problem is that if one even manages to edit an article, then you have to "guard" it forever, because your changes will be reverted in a week or two by people whose activity is just deleting stuff. Many of them even BOAST about how many items they deleted from the site: changes (often thousands) or articles (hundreds). This means that hundreds of people who tried to contribute were burned - and their contributions, discarded. This is very discouraging to try to do anything in this "community" - which in fact seems to be more of a clique of old timers, who seem to try to everything possible, to push away new people. After all, the old timers are "proven", while in reality they did hundreds of reverts, or small changes - and most of true wikipedia was written by IPs....

Many articles in pt are deleted without any logical criteria even if this article have being writen in other languages (Orange Pi for example). Professional bodies articles in Brasil are beeing deleted by the obscure none sense logical of the wikipedia revisor. Some articles are deleted others not deleted, no one could ever know why because the contente are the same. I propose that junk article could be marked as junk, fake, incomplete but could no longer being hidden from wikipedia. Wikimedia policies say that sysops have a merely a technical role, and they just enforce consensus. But reality is much different: many procedures (like Articles for deletion) involve last word decision-making by sysops; when they think consensus is obvious, sysops are allowed to "be bold" and decide themselves; and that's not simply "applying the rules", because differents sysops come out with different decisions. Even when real discussion takes place, it is not uncommon that the case is enterely or mainly decided by sysops (that's to say, the same one who will enforce the decision). Not even in the wild west it was allowed to the same person to be, at the same time, sheriff and judge. What Wikipedia lacks is a separation of powers: those who decide should always be sharply divided from those who enforce decisions. No exception allowed....

It could be as simple as just making some easier training for youth, or as sophisticated as a full blown global campaign to recruit and nurture the best student candidates of today into tomorrow's editorial powerhouse. I wanna say that we have to make it more informative in such a way that the main contents about the topic shall have shown in a tab. This tab contain all the important information about that topic. For e.g our topic is Sun, now what we have to do is that we have to add all facts in a single tab in form of table such as Size - 695,000 km and many more data like Physical Characterstics, Orbital and Observational data. This tab shall cover all the main facts about sun. Information shall be easy because a 12grade student open Sun's page on Wiki and he/she ain't know much more about Sun. If he/she opens that page and the Limuniosty, Declination, Obliquity etc. will be shown at the top of the page and he/she ain't know anything about that it make a small impact on him/her that this isn't a basic source of info. about Sun. But if we put the basic info. about Sun at the top instead of such things. The basic include Sun's Radius, Distance from Earth, Weight, Orbital speed etc. these all things are basics and now he/she can gather all the bacis info. about Sun from there. After that he/she will move ahead to gather more info. Now that is the right place to put such things (Declination, Eccentricity etc.) because without basic everything is squander. I'm not saying that you method is wrong but it has limitations, which should be fixed....

The world we live in greatly rely on the experiences and understanding from the past. From the ages information that we learned and stored guided us to this time but there was a bottleneck in disseminating this stored data and it was the distributor/orator/speaker/teller. Because back then there were few tellers and more learners so information was disseminated very slowly and in limited manner. But today we stand in era where that small information made us so empowered that everyone is learner/receiver and teacher/distributor as well - it's era of Internet. Internet is way more powerful than we think it's not TV type lavish thing. It's as important as study and other things in our lives. Wikipedia is one of the tool that's changing how fast and efficiently we learn and get better at things. You can share, communicate and teach at the same time. There will be time in the future when Wikipedia going to teach us more than we learn at home and in school. In 2013, the cellular provider Orange extended mobile access to Wikipedia to all their customers in the Middle East and Africa by waiving data charges for users. In response to this exciting new avenue for free online information, the Botswana-UPenn Partnership (BUP) Health Informatics Program and the University of Botswana (UB) have partnered in a 3 phase study investigating Wikipedia as an mHealth tool.The purpose is to evaluate the quality and content of Wikipedia articles related to HIV/AIDS topics and update those pages so that medical students, healthcare professionals, and the general public will have access to online information that is not only accurate, but also relevant to low-resource settings such as Botswana. The Wikipedia article evaluations and revisions will be conducted by volunteer medical students, residents, and healthcare professionals.n addition, UB and BUP researchers have been working with UB librarians to found "Wikipedia Wednesdays," a bi-monthly occurring extracurricular organization in which volunteer Batswana librarians, faculty, and students edit and upload articles to Wikipedia. The launch date of Wikipedia Wednesdays is Wednesday, March 11 and will begin with librarian training on how to edit and upload articles to Wikipedia. Subsequent sessions will focus on training volunteers, uploading the revisions from the Wikipedia Article Evaluation Workshop, creating a Wikipedia page and links for medical terminology Setswana translations, and translating Wikipedia pages to Setswana. The goal is to create awareness about Wikipedia and foster a culture of Wikipedia article editing to enhance online information specific to Botswana and Africa. With increased awareness we also hope to eventually incorporate Wikipedia article editing into the curriculum....

I already established an associations of users on meta wiki which called as Association of Wikipedians Who Dislike Clash of Civilizations in Wikipedia. But it wasn't successful to reach its goals. Its goals was making a place to make dialogue, not to clash. I know sometimes an Azerbaijani Wikipedian trying to show "Median Empire/People" as a Turkic one or a Kurdish as a Kurdish. Even though the reality was anything else (Ancient Indo-Iranian People). So the question is: "what should we do?". I respond: "that we must act and let knowledge be Neutral, regardless of the any ethnicity, religion, or belief. We must made a place to make dialogue among users who are in different position and with "Neutral" admins make sure them write and build a real encyclopedia. A WikiDialogue like a formal tehouse and/or Association (A place between both of them) can help us to resolve problem of Edit-Clashes in a formal way and find/search for real errors in the multi-language articles. Sometimes certain people try to (mis)utilize Wikipedia by creating articles for themselves or their company without having a fair idea about what Wikipedia is really about. Needless to say that they have no idea about notability issues and guidelines. Worse still, there are some who try to use Wikipedia for advertisement and do not understand the neutrality principles of Wikipedia. As a result of such attempts, such articles eventually get deleted by the admins and bureaucrats on Wikipedia. But does that really solve the problem? The ignorant users (who create such articles) remain ignorant and reattempt creating such articles although without any success. My proposal is that rather than deleting such articles, they be moved to Wikipedia Article Incubator wherein the users contributing to such articles are intimidated about the exact parameters that need to be fulfilled in order to get the article(s) live. Meanwhile, if proper guidance is provided to those editors, they can meaningfully integrate themselves as credible Wikipedians....

Por eso, considero que debería promocionar la creación de audios de personajes ilustres, marcas mundialmente conocidas, titulos de canciones y un sinfin de nombre propios, que ha día de hoy Wikipedia cuenta con el desglose letra a letra de la fonética de multitud de ellos, pero a diferencia de portales como forvo.com, no dispone o no es habitual disponer, del audio en el idioma original del nombre del artículo editable, como por ejemplo podían ser Cervantes en español (de España), Shakespeare (en inglés del Reino Unido) y Guttmann (en alemán de Alemania)....

Concerns about the introduction of spam into Wikipedia has lead Wikipedians towards implementing high speed new article review/curation processes. The speed at which editors tag articles for deletion via these processes is great for dealing with spam, but it might also be faster than good-faith new article creators can build their articles. We could build a machine learning classifier that is tuned to detect spammy article drafts. This would allow the new pages queue to be split into a high-speed spammy article review, and a low-speed article review that allows creators time to make a better first draft....
