History
Early life and overview[]
Shoji Soma was a Grandmaster[1] of the Hand.[2]
Great Wheel[]
In 1961, Shoji Soma, along with other intelligence agents John Garrett, Thomas Davidson, Vasili Dassaiev, Cornelius van Lunt, Baron Strucker, Dum Dum Dugan, Nick Fury, Jake Fury, Daniel Whitehall and Viktor Uvarov, were called by Leonardo Da Vinci (alias Aries) to form the Great Wheel of Zodiac. Each member was assigned a codename from the Zodiac Calendar, Shoji Soma being Pisces. The group consisted of the best covert intelligence agents from around the globe.[1]
After only a few key missions for Da Vinci, he would provide them resources that would be of great value to their own separate agendas. Shoji Soma took part in an operation along with John Garrett, Kraken and Vasili Dassaiev, infiltrated an ancient Brood vessel in Giza, Egypt, killed the Brood host and acquired a power source. Vasili began conspiring with with Viktor. Together, they betrayed the Great Wheel and stole the technology their missions had acquired.[1]
Leviathan[]
The broken Great Wheel led to the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, Leviathan and the Zodiac Cartel.[1]
When Shoji Soma, Baron Strucker and their Hydra recruits attacked Leviathan and severely wounded Viktor, Magadan rushed him into stasis to save his life, but the superhuman process could not be carried out after Hydra had stolen the Brood power source.[1]
He met with Lord Shigen and the Silver Samurai of Clan Yashida at Agarashima, and Shoji Soma hid the alien power source vital towards the revival of Leviathan inside a Yashida ancestral box. Despite Shigen's warning that no one who has opened the box has lived to see it closed, Soma knew that he was already dead.[2]
The next day, Magadan attempted to retrieve the power source in order to revive Orion, killing Shoji Soma in his search. However, where Soma hid the power source could not be determined. After this, Magadan and Leviathan went dark for many years.[2]Attributes
