KC Johnson: Bulls 102, Magic 99 Bulls over .500 for first time since Nov. 2, 2022 White 21 pts Vucevic 18 pts, 14 rebs Giddey 20 pts, 11 rebs, 5 assists LaVine 11 pts, 10 Rebs 6 in doubles Banchero 31 pts; Banked 3 at buzzer waved off
Guard Zach LaVine compared Giddey to Ricky Rubio, while veteran big man Nikola Vucevic has raved about how perfectly Giddey fits into what they want to do offensively. “I think [Giddey’s] playmaking is huge and a thing that is going to help us a lot,” Vucevic said. “He makes passes that not many people can see, and I think his size is something that people underestimate a little bit. “For him, it’s the same as it is for us, just getting used to playing next to each other. As a team, we need to build that chemistry, but I think he’s a player that can help us a lot, especially with his vision. We want to play fast, and I think that’s his style, as well.”

Nikola Vucevic to lose Montenegrin citizenship?
Nikola Vucevic has represented the Montenegrin national team in five major international tournaments, he also played in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament this past summer. He is in danger of never getting the chance to do it again. The US Immigration and Customs Services officially announced that the Chicago Bulls center has become a US citizen. As such, his Montenegrin citizenship might be revoked, Vijesti reports.
Montenegro’s Ministry of Interior said in a written reply to Vijesti that Vucevic will not be exempt from the rules. “For all persons who are found to have voluntarily acquired, in addition to Montenegrin citizenship, the citizenship of another country after June 3, 2006, pursuant to Article 24 Paragraph 4 of the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship, the Ministry of Justice will ex officio initiate the procedure for the loss of Montenegrin citizenship,” the reply reads.
“Definitely, it’s different when you sign an extension,” Williams said. “You’re coming in and you’re asked to do more. That’s with any job on the planet. When they pay you a little bit more, you’re asked to do a little bit more. For me it’s kind of walking in and leaning into it. “They’ve asked me to be more of a leader. I’ve been able to see how guys — obviously DeMar [DeRozan] — seen how he led. With Zach [LaVine], see how Vooch [Nikola Vucevic] leads. Early on it was Thad Young, Garrett Temple, you see the way they led. You pick up little things from them knowing that, and hoping that my time will come to lead, and that time has come. It’s a challenge for sure, something new, but I always try and lean into it.”
On recent reports in Europe that he hopes to play four more years: Nikola Vucevic: I think that kind of came out wrong. It wasn’t that I want to play four more years. It was just more so that … they were asking me, like, am I thinking about retirement? I was just like, ‘Retiring?’ In my mind I have at least four more years and then I want to see from there what I can do. But it came out as, like, I want to play four more years.
On how he deals with trade speculation that has mostly swirled around LaVine in recent months but occasionally features his name: Nikola Vucevic: I mean, honestly, I’m used to it at this point. Since I’ve been with the Bulls, I’ve been in a lot of trade stories, especially last summer as well throughout last season. So it’s just part of it. Like I said before, if things were going well and we’re winning and everything was great, that wouldn’t be the case. But because things weren’t going that well, we weren’t winning and we weren’t achieving our goals, then obviously change is bound to happen. Honestly, I know it’s a pretty basic answer, but you don’t have much control over it, so you kind of just wait and see. If they decide to change and trade me, it’s on them to do. Just like a year and a half ago I was a free agent and I could have chosen to go elsewhere. It’s just the way this business works and so now we’ll see.
