Grains educational resources
In 2021 we joined the Primary Industries Education Foundation of Australia (PIEFA) to help share our love of grains and encourage kids from an early age to think about grains, the grains industry and careers in agriculture.
Together with PIEFA, we’ve developed targeted resources for teachers to help educate school students about the grains industry and associated careers. It also supports schools, families and communities to learn about the Australian grains industry and how grains are farmed.
PIEFA’s website Primezone hosts the grains education resources for students, starting from years 3-4.
The available educational resources cover a wide range of topics. They are accessible digitally and are designed to be interactive and informative.
For teachers
GRDC has a suite of grain education resources and initiatives available about grains, oilseeds and pulses. These resources can either be downloaded as PDFs or on Primezone Academy as an online course.
Each curriculum linked resource incorporates a range of lesson plans which explore the latest science, technology, engineering, mathematics, nutrition, research and innovation in the Australian agricultural industry.
You can use these resources as a unit or select components to complement your teaching plan.
