Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for the care of the Streets and Water System of the Town.

Utility Bills

Utility Bills are sent out quarterly (in January, April, July & October) and are due on the 10th of the following month. The breakdown for the utility bills is listed below:

Properties within the town limits. All properties situated within the Felton town limits that are connected to the Felton water system shall pay the following fees on a quarterly basis:

a. $20.00 customer charge;
b. $10.00 debt service fee; and
c. $3.40 for every 1000 gallons of water used during the billing period.

Properties outside the town limits. All properties situated outside the Felton town limits that are connected to the Felton water system shall pay the following fees on a quarterly basis:

a. $30.00 customer charge;
b. $10.00 debt service fee; and
c. $5.10 for every 1000 gallons of water used during the billing period.

Effective July 1st, 2024 the trash fee on the utility bill will be $54.15 per quarter. 

Utility Bills that are not paid by the Date Due are charged a $25.00 Late Fee.

If the utility bill is not paid by the disconnect date (normally ten days after due date) the account will be charged $25 for a disconnect fee and $25 for a reconnect fee. This fee is applied to the account the morning of shut-offs. A letter is sent to each resident/owner advising of the water shut-off date and the additional fees that will be applied to the account.

Streets

The Public Works Department street responsibilities include:

Street Maintenance & Repair – The streets of Felton are maintained and repaired by our Public Works Department although a number of the streets which run through town are State maintained. State maintained streets include: Church St., Main St. (rte 12), High St. and Lombard St..

Street Signage – The Public Works Department also maintains street markings, traffic signs and street signs.

Open Space Maintenance – The Public Works Department also maintains the open spaces of the town including mowing, trimming and weed control in warmer months.

Grass Ordinance – The Public Works Department monitors and if needed correct violations of the Town’s Grass Ordinance.

Street Light Repair – Although street lights are not repaired by the town any outages should be reported to Town Hall so that Delmarva Power can be notified.
