Windows95man has released “No Rules”, his entry for Uuden Musikiin Kilpailu 2024.
Teemu Keisteri, better known as Windows95man, started his career by uploading home videos on Youtube. These videos began to be watched by viewers from all over the world and one even ended up in a commercial aired during an NHL game.
In 2013, Teemu did a DJ gig at Flow Festival. He wore a costume consisting of a pair of very cut-off shorts and a Windows95 t-shirt ordered online. From there, Windows95man was born. Since then, he has performed at Helsinki’s New Year’s celebration in 2022, as an opening act for Käärijä at the Helsinki Ice Hall and at numerous smaller events.
The vocals on the song are performed by Henri Piispanen, who is also a co-writer of the song. Keisteri explains that the chorus of the song was so challenging that he had trouble finding a singer with enough technical skill to pull it off. Piispanen was the only one whose voice could go high enough.
The release order for the remaining songs is as follows:
- January 18 – Sini Sabotage
- January 19 – Mikael Gabriel x Nublu
The following entry has already been released:
- Cyan Kicks – “Dancing With Demons“
- Sexmane – “Mania“
- Sara Siipola – “Paksana“
- Jesse Markin – “Glow“
The 2024 edition of UMK will be held on February 10 in the Nokia Arena in Tampere. With a capacity of 13,455, the Nokia Arena is the largest indoor arena in Finland and the largest venue to ever host UMK.
