India participated in the 1958 Asian Games held in Tokyo, Japan from 24 May to 1 June 1958. India was ranked seventh with 5 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals, in the third edition of the Asian Games.[1]

This edition of the Asian Games marked the debut of field hockey. India won the silver medal.
