Welcome

[edit]

Davumaya, welcome to Wikinews! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Our key policies - if you read anything, read these!

Here a few pointers to help you get to know Wikinews:

There are always things to do on Wikinews:

By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), which produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, you can ask them at the water cooler or to anyone on the Welcommittee, or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome! Audio

[edit]

Hey,

Thanks for getting involved in Audio Wikinews. I do agree the system is a bit confusing - if you have any ideas for a better way of doing it you can code it or tell me and i'll code it. I think it's something that should be promoted, its a great way of reading articles. Matt | userpage | contribs 10:05, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

News briefs:October 14, 2007

[edit]

It would be great if you could re-record the last part today, if you can. Thanks. FellowWiki Newsie 17:30, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just a note, for your future news brief's, instead of just "and this is licenced under the Creative Commons licence" say "and this is licenced under the the Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 licence." You could also say the URL of the website, just like you did on your first brief, which is http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.5/. You are doing a great job btw, I just listened to your intro for David's article. FellowWiki Newsie 16:47, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Audio stuff

[edit]

First of all, I wanted to say how happy I was to see someone was doing audio stuff on wikinews again. I was just wondering if you could tag all uploads on commons for audio with either [[category:Audio Wikinews News Briefs]] or [[category:Wikinews audio]] when uploading. Also it seems like these files have a number of different copyright statements. It is prefered that the audio files from wikinews content be under the CC-By 2.5 license as that is the license news articles use.

I know the upload stuff onto commons for things that are not pictures is a bit complicated and not well documented. If you want I could probably get a special upload page just for wikinews audio made that has all the info for audio files on it. Bawolff 06:32, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

side note. I saw the following on someone elses talk page, and since i like to jump in and answer questions not addressed to me, i thought i'd go ahead :)

Booya Matto, wondering whats up with the Audiowiki podcast and how we might be able to get more Wiki sound clips out to the public. Or are there existing podcast radio peeps we're friendly with can snag some airtime? .:*:*:DAVUMAYA:*:*:. 00:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

There used to be an internet radio/podcast wiki project called wikicast which we were i geuss you could say friendly with (as a wiki project). As far as i know there project died, but i think a couple of wikinewsies were involved with it (Umm, i think user:Terinjokes (who unfortunately just left wikinews), user:nzgabriel and user:ShakespeareFan00 (not 100% sure on list)). There is a wikinews audio podcast, which last I checked only worked half the time, and when it did work, no one used it because no client supported vorbis. Bawolff 06:55, 21 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

News briefs: October 23, 2007

[edit]

Something seems to have gone awry with Oct 23. I removed references to Oct 24, but Oct 22 persisted, plus there seems to be no audio for Oct 23. Good luck. --SVTCobra 04:34, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

HELP! The noinclude is not working, The briefs are not being excluded from the main page, whats up with that? Also, the naming convention is whack I mean there should be a space there but when I first made a brief a week ago people renamed it to the whacked up way it was. I don't know why. I honestly would like to go back and rename all files with proper spaces so it looks clean and neat. I'll leave it up to you admin to decide. .:*:*:DAVUMAYA:*:*:. 04:49, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Umm, yes, I am an admin, but horribly illiterate when it comes to the various multimedia projects that have been attempted here over time. I cannot tell you what the right thing to do is, nor how to avoid the problem in the future. All I could do was to determine that something was wrong. (functionality of noinclude? beats me.) Good luck. --SVTCobra 05:05, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Considering you are the main (and pretty much only contributor) to the audio project, I think you probably have the right to name them in whatever fashion/change the rules of the project in whatever way you see fit. The only issue with the format is that some (calander) pages expect them to be in a specific format. I can modify the cal stuff to work with another format if you want. Bawolff 05:21, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Do you mean a lack of space between News briefs: and October 23, 2007? That is there because News briefs are supposed to be pseudo-namespace (Compare that with talk:some page or category:October 23, 2007) Of courcse it isn't actually a namespace, so it looks kind of funny. As I said before, since you're the main contributor to audio stuff at the moment, pretty much what you says goes for that side of the project. If you do want to change the formats, just let me know (or some other admin or user who knows what templates need changing) so I can stop the date category ({{Datecategory}}) from breaking. (Or you could just redirect News briefs:October whatever, to News briefs: October whatever and everything will keep on working as inclusions follow redirects). Bawolff 05:32, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Blah lets keep the formatting for now, it doesn't really bother me but if it serves a certain purpose or a future purpose as a pseudo-namespace then let it be easier for us. I don't have anything big to propose changing now other than me cleaning up the project pages and creating a better guide for people. .:*:*:DAVUMAYA:*:*:. 06:44, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Audio Wikinews and promoting the Wikinews website

[edit]

For the Wikinews audio briefs, could you add a mention of the Wikinews website? Thanks to the Creative Commons licence, the audiocast may be freely copied to other locations, or potentially even broadcast on radio stations. Therefore not all listeners would be on the Wikinews website, nor would they be aware of how to access Wikinews. This statement could be made at the end of the audiocast and mention something like: "For breaking news, please check the Wikinews website at en.wikinews.org". That said, it's good to see your efforts on re-establishing frequent Audio Wikinews briefs and this is much appreciated. DL+1613 03:20, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rawktastic, I'll do it. Part of my branding campaign will be to boost popularity of the Wikinews site overall. .:*:*:DAVUMAYA:*:*:. 05:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Audio wikinews

[edit]

My condolences for the death of your friend, I hope you'll be alright. Don't worry about Audio Wikinews, I just wanted to say you are doing a great and professional job, and once I return from my training in the UK I'll maybe pick it up again so we could work together on this. All the best, --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 22:22, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I was wondering about using the guitar intro for Wikinews you used in your latest brief. What license is it under? Could you upload it to Commons separately for other contributors to download and use? --Steven Fruitsmaak (Reply) 02:35, 11 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I, Steven Fruitsmaak, hereby award the Spoken Barnstar to Davumaya for excellent work on WN:AUDIO.

Brock contact... 12:40, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

請你看清楚這篇,如果行政院追查到的話,我不是坐牢就是死。Brock contact... 15:38, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
